About Us

East Coast Aero Club started as a club for students twenty five years ago; the focus has remained providing safe, high-quality airplanes and helicopters at the lowest cost in the region. The United States is the world’s greatest country in which to fly, with more than 600,000 active licensed pilots, 15,000 airports, and 200,000 private aircraft. East Coast Aero Club is proud to have welcomed thousands of people into the fraternity of American aviators.

Our customers enjoy mastering the challenge of flying and the pleasure of showing friends and family the sights of New England from the air. With more than 30 aircraft available to rent, it is always possible to reserve a machine for a summer day-trip to destinations that are impossible by car. For example, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Provincetown, and Montauk (Long Island) are less than one hour away by air. You can literally walk to the beach from these airports. Want to go out for dinner at one of Portland, Maine’s creative restaurants? That’s about 45 minutes away. Our customers enjoy weekend trips to Montreal, Quebec City, and Nova Scotia.

New York City is surrounded by small airports, such as Teterboro and White Plains. For the true executive experience, however, some of our customers fly one of our Robinson R44 helicopters to the heliports surrounding Manhattan, attend a meeting, and then make the 1.5-hour flight back to Bedford.

Advantages of East Coast Aero Club

Quality Instruction

Choose from over twenty five highly-qualified FAA-certified flight instructors the majority with instrument and multi-engine instructor ratings, and five with over 6000 hours total time. We use the widely recognized Jeppesen and ASA training systems to provide the highest quality instruction to you.

Well-Maintained Aircraft

ECAC has one of the newest and most diverse training fleet in New England and always maintain our aircraft to the highest of standards. We employ an experienced staff of full-time aviation technicians to ensure timely maintenance that exceeds FAA standards. We are the only flight school at Hanscom Field with on-site maintenance.

Only Helicopters at Hanscom

If you’re interested in helicopter lessons or a helicopter tour over Boston, we are the only provider at Hanscom Field, the closest general aviation airport to Boston and Cambridge.

Commitment to Improve

ECAC has spent nearly $2 million in new aircraft acquisitions, engine replacements and avionics upgrades since 2007. We monitor the condition of our aircraft constantly and regularly upgrade the paint, interiors and radios as required.

Commitment to Quality

All of our engines are factory-new or factory-overhauled by Lycoming and Continental. Every repair is done by our own maintenance group and, if one mechanic works on an airplane, a second mechanic verifies the work before the aircraft is returned to service. Our aircraft run on FAA-certified 100LL fuel.

Relaxed Atmosphere

Especially on weekends, our club is a wonderful place to meet fellow pilots and aviation enthusiasts.

Insurance to Protect the Pilot

We maintain an insurance policy from a well-respected aviation provider. Our coverage is $1 million combined single limit and full hull value. Each pilot is also covered for liability in the amount of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per occurrance as an additional insured.
